Full Buckle and Half Buckle Carriers
Full Buckle carriers are great for getting out and about for journeys that may be too long for a toddler or preschooler to walk. These parent facing carriers are worn fully hands free and usually in a back carry position to enable parents a clear view but can also be work on the front which can be extremely useful and comforting. Additional uses for this type of carriers are a secure place to nap and a safe place in a crowd.

Carry Assists
Carry assists are solutions that can be super handy for supporting your child's weight BUT require the adult to have an arm around the child at ALL times. There are a high number of carry assists advertised for low prices online, some of which do not have accurate advertising regarding hands free safety, or even buckles likely to pass standadised tests. This isn't illegal as the baby carrier industry is unregulated but we would urege that you check any carry assist or baby carrier you purchase complies with BS EN 13209-2 as a minimum.

Woven wraps and Asian style carriers
Woven Wraps - All but the lightest woven wraps should be useful for toddlers as well as babies. When searching looking for reviews mentioning "toddler worthiness" can be of help, as can looking for hgher GSMs and wraps which contain materials such as hemp can be thicker and tougher. A "beastly" wrap will be tough to use for a beginner while wrap with "cush" may be softer on "picky shoulders". Many manufacturers include guidance in this regard, and there are a whole host of pages accounts and forums discussing wraps and their qualities. In terms of length, come and borrow a woven wrap to find out what you like. Some people will want short wraps for speedy wrapping, some will want longer wraps for multiple passes. The size you need will also depend on the shape and size of the parent and child.
